چکیده
Zinc Phosphide(Zn3P2) is a common rodenticide freely available in Nigeria for use against rodents. Occasionally human consumption occurs either accidentally or intentionally with potential consequences of multiorgan toxicity and death. An 11-year-old boy consumed an unknown quantity zinc phosphide marketed as Push Out® the intention committing suicide killing some members family his response to chastisement misdemeanour. Patient presented hospital 4 days after ingestion history profound vomiting abdominal pain. Laboratory evaluation showed evidence hepatic dysfunction, acute kidney injury elevated serum amylase. He was managed conservatively discharged home two weeks admission. We report this case emphasise need Paediatricians consider rodenticides differential diagnosis hepatoxicity pancreatic enzyme elevation, well highlight possibility among children. There control indiscriminate rodenticides, strengthen public health education on poisoning establish Poison Information Centres our environment.

A Case Report of Successful Treatment of Aluminum Phosphide Poisoning
Introduction: Aluminum phosphide is one of the most common causes of poisoning in the country. It liberates lethal phosphine gas when it comes in contact either with atmospheric moisture or with hydrochloric acid in the stomach. It mainly attacks the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Eating even small amounts of this toxin can lead to death. This study reports a case of successful treatme...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Aluminium Phosphide Poisoning: A Case Report
Aluminium phosphide (AlP) is used to kill rodents in grain storage. It produces phosphine gas which is toxic for mitochondria. The exact mechanism of action is unclear, but phosphine is thought to produce toxicity by blocking cytochrome-c oxidase, which inhibits oxidative phosphorylation and result in cell death. This poisoning has a high mortality, and survival is unlikely if more than 1.5 g i...

Aluminium phosphide (ALP) is highly toxic and poisoning can result in high mortality rates. A 26-year-old female who allegedly ingested a toxic dose of ALP presented with vomiting and diarrhoea. She developed cardiac arrest with refractory pulseless ventricular tachycardia. Despite aggressive resuscitation, she succumbed to death seven hours following ingestion. In cases like this, a better out...

متن کاملZinc Phosphide Poisoning
Zinc phosphide has been used widely as a rodenticide. Upon ingestion, it gets converted to phosphine gas in the body, which is subsequently absorbed into the bloodstream through the stomach and the intestines and gets captured by the liver and the lungs. Phosphine gas produces various metabolic and nonmetabolic toxic effects. Clinical symptoms are circulatory collapse, hypotension, shock sympto...
